Normal is broken

1 min

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” -Albert Einstein

Normal is how we grew up in our society. To try to fit in so that we wouldn’t stick out. What’s the point in that though? What is the point of fitting in and what exactly are we trying to fit into?

If we are all the same then life is full and boring. While looking at the statistics, high percentages of Americans are unhappy with their jobs. They’re divorced, over-weight, and have no savings over the age of 35. If this is normal, then we need to envision something else to strive for because that won’t do.

Settling to be normal is letting down your future self. Challenge the status quo. Daring to be different is scary, but that feeling makes it worth it. Take the risk because inaction is a crime against your future self.

Ask yourself: what is the worst thing that could happen? This helps relieve anxiety when venturing outside of your comfort zone. The worst is unlikely to occur, but prepare for it and take action anyways. It’s better to regret taking the risk than never knowing.

Everyone gets embarrassed by things that pan out differently from the plan. Embrace this and know that it is fleeting. Nothing is permanent.

Never stop questioning what makes you different from others. This can become your superpower. We are all evolving as we grow as humans, so we must never stop questioning. Normal is broken. Look for something else to reach towards.
